Berlin: Sculpture

I am interested in sculpture both in its own right and as a focal element of the landscape. Despite the devastation wrought on Berlin during WWII and the frugality of post-war reconstruction, there is an astonishing wealth of material out there, from Canova's elegant neoclassicism to the stiff earnestness of socialist realism to whimsical concoctions by backyard freelancers.
The photographs are from 2003–2004. A selection of them was shown at San Francisco’s SFO Museum in 2014.
